The BMA has launched the search for its next chief executive.
The successful candidate will join the association at an exciting time as it undergoes crucial changes that will help ensure its relevance and influence for the future.
The recruitment advertisement states that the BMA is looking for ‘an accomplished business leader and manager, who can embrace complex challenges and has the strategic and financial expertise to run a significant business’.
Those considering the role will also require ‘well-developed interpersonal skills to work closely with a range of stakeholders and the empathy to be effective within a democratic culture’.
An interest in healthcare and the wider public sector will be an advantage, and the candidate is likely to have experience of public service, or membership organisations.
The recruitment process is being coordinated by executive search firm The Inzito Partnership.
BMA treasurer Andrew Dearden said: ‘Our members have been telling us they want a different BMA — one that is more responsive to their needs and speaks with a voice that reflects the people who make up the medical profession today.
‘We are looking for the right candidate to spearhead these changes and help ensure we remain relevant and real to the doctors and medical students of today and, crucially, tomorrow.’
